LGBTQ Leadership Starts Here...

Out In Front New York is an initiative of the Stonewall Community Foundation to cultivate the next generation of nonprofit leaders in the LGBTQ community—particularly those interested or active in board service. Over the course of four months through five day-long training sessions, participants build meaningful relationships with one another while further developing the vision, skills, and confidence needed to steward the organizations they care about. If you are considering joining a nonprofit board of directors or have recently done so, this is a fantastic way to get comprehensive, hands-on training. Welcome to the Movement...

New York is one of the largest, most energetic cities in the world. As such, it’s home to an equally vibrant community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people. This is perhaps most evident in the great spectrum of nonprofits that represent their lives, their interests, their needs, and their families. For decades, under strong leadership, these organizations and institutions have been pillars in the community, ever diligent in education, advocacy, and the provision of resources, safe space, and services. And now, with tremendous progress made, the torch is being passed to those who must carry the LGBTQ Movement forward. These emerging leaders in their 20s and 30s are taking on the responsibility of planning, guiding, governing, and fundraising to ensure that the spirit of change embodied in the Stonewall riots lives on and that the vital justice work that ensued continues.
